I believe that all human beings have the capacity to reach their full potential regardless of upbringing, the culture of origin, gender, age and any other aspect of diversity.
I have many years experience working with people with a wide range of mental health problems and have learned how each individual is unique and how different people may benefit from different approaches to tackling their difficulties. My professional development as a therapist, trainer and supervisor have been informed by these values and this is reflected in my choices for my own training, supervision, and development.
I have training in various modalities of therapeutic work including person-centred counselling, core process psychotherapy, CBT, family and systemic practice, emotionally focused couples therapy (EFT), pre- and perinatal psychology and professional supervisor with CSTD.
I am also an EMDR practitioner qualified to work with adults and children.
During my career, I have gained experience working with people with eating disorders, people with experiences of severe abuse in childhood, people with terminal illness and with students as a counsellor at the University of Plymouth. I work with individuals, couples and families, I offer both long-term therapy and shorter term therapy (for EAP programmes, for instance).
As a trainer, I have written and conducted counselling courses at diploma level and run courses in Mindfulness and Meditation. I am a qualified mindfulness teacher and part of the UK Teachers network for mindfulness-based teacher training organisations.
My early career was spent working as a manager for a large utility company, where I gained valuable business experience.
Alongside, Lotus Training I also run the Lotus Counselling Service.
